Atreyu @ Projekt Revolution

Hellbent on shattering the barricade, Metalcore evangelists Atreyu brought fistfulls of pavement-splitting rock to Projekt Revolution, Saint Louis.

The shaking the last few bolts out of the rigging, the Orange County crew earned their spot at the top of the Revolution Stage billing with spitfire guitar work from Dan Jacobs, Travis Miguel and bassist Marc Mcknight while vocals from frontman Alex Varkatzas and Brandon Saller egged on a screaming and feverish crowd.

PHOTOGRAPHER’S NOTES:

Atreyu’s reputation proceeded them as a great band to photograph. As the photos show, they did not disappoint.

The main difficulty for this set was less the 3-song limit or the lighting and more the fact that I couldn’t decide which band member to shoot from moment to moment. There was so much happening on stage that it felt like I was watching five separate performances at once. By the way, that’s a good thing.

On a more technical note, I’ve been working on my landscape compositions recently. Specifically, trying to get a well composed shot with more than one band member in the frame. Unlike many photographers I know, I lean naturally towards portrait composition. Can anyone say full-bleed spread?
