Oasis

December 17, 2008 – Performing in support of Dig Out Your Soul, Oasis brought the Manchester flavor to a sold out crowd at Madison Square Garden.

Photographer’s Notes

This was my second Oasis gig and I was lucky enough to shoot the band on my home turf this time. MSG staff and security are professional and always a pleasure to work with. Even though I was coming down with the flu, this shoot was considerably easier than Virgin festival, Toronto.

I was allowed full range of the pit for the first three songs second, third and fourth songs. To my delight the lighting was atmospheric as well as bright. The band was lit by an array of strong spots from the rafters as well as a huge LED screen from behind.

Due to the tall stage, I shot almost entirely with the Nikon 70-200mm VR on the D3. Though the 14-24mm and 24-70mm lenses made a few appearances, the long lens seemed best suited for downstage shots of Noel and Gem. With a lot of room to work, I made a concerted effort to get a variety of shots of every band member. Even though there were many more keeps for this shoot, the slideshow contains 26 shots.
