PORTFOLIO: Feedback Requested

Feedback needed. Both my live and promotional portfolios received updates today. New images went in and some older work came out. I’ve also organized all of the photos by height. This is where your opinion counts! In addition to general feedback about the images, I’d like to know if the new organization helps or hinders [...]

Welcome to OLP v1.5
Ahh yes, the changing of the seasons. The American Apparel hoodies are coming out in Williamsburg and white is the new black here at www.onelouderphoto.com. I’ve been fed up with the website for a while now and it’s time for some big changes. The brighter skin, edgy font and new watermarks are just the beginning. [...]

My heart and mind are with fellow music photographer Lori Baily
I learned in a flurry of emails today that the parents of fellow Prefix photographer, Lori Baily, were murdered in their Nebraska home this weekend. Over the past year, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing numerous assignments and photo pits with Lori and I am incredibly saddened by this tragic news.

Interview

I sat down with the fabulous Amanda Ameer over at Life’s a Pitch, and talked her ear off about shooting shows, how to find a good live music photographer and what’s up with marketing classical music these days. I think it’s a decent read.

No News Is Good News
I’m sorry for the absence of updates but on top of being sick, I’ve been totally swamped with work! Never fear, even though the past few weeks have been crazy and I’ve got lots of good news, tons of photos and a few quippy concert reviews waiting in the wings. Regular updates to the site [...]

VHS or Beta/Moving Units: Confirmed
My credentials just came through for the VHS or Beta/Moving Units with Soft show at the Blender Theater at Gramercy. Call me an 80s throw-back sucker, but I love basically anything new wave. I distinctly remember walking into the Virgin Megastore in Union Square, pulling up to the listening booth where Night on Fire was [...]

All Quiet on the Western Front…

Even hard working rock photogs need a little break now and then. Luckily, $10 still equals a one-way ticket to the finest steaks in Philly. The big news is that I’ve started shooting for a new publication, I shot one of Iceland’s biggest and best music exports, and I hear CMJ is finally confirming press [...]

Published again.
Even though this has nothing to do with concert photography, I just learned that a photo I took is published in the upcoming issue of Domino Magazine. Now all I need to do is get a few images into Rolling Stone.

Metric @ Webster Hall : Confirmed
My credentials for Metric’s show this Friday, September 21st at Webster Hall just came through. Though I tend to like the music of all of the bands I shoot (if I hate the music, the work suffers), I’m particularly interested to shoot Metric and hear any new work since their 2005 album Live Out Loud.

The Von Bondies @ Mercury Lounge, tonight!
I’ve been commissioned to shoot The Von Bondies tonight. This gig will be my first shoot at the Mercury Lounge since acquiring the 1Dmk3. I’m interested to see how the new camera stacks up against the dim, red-wash lighting. Pix to follow.

Alan Semerdjian, Gregory + The Hawk @ The Living Room – 31.08.2007

It’s only Friday night and I’ve already shot 5 bands this weekend at two separate venues. Aren’t people supposed to relax a little on Labor day weekend? Tonight’s shoot was a commissioned one for my friend, the very talented, Alan Semerdjian. After capturing a series of high-quality live shots for Alan’s promotional material, I decided [...]

AVZ – electro global discotek @ Galapagos Art Space – 30.08.2007

I’m still recovering from a last minute gig of late of shooting for the AVZ – electro global discotek at the Galapagos Art Space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was a great night, with Diet Kong, ButterThief and Bamboo Shoots performing all around rock’in sets and DJ James F!@.$%^ Friedman on the decks. I don’t want [...]

Blackbeard @ Mercury Lounge – 12.08.2007

New York is an amazing place. If you love music, you can find a good show any night of the week. The problem for concert photographers like me is that some of the best shows take place in dirty East Village holes with nothing more than a red 50 watt bulb for stage light. Luckily, [...]
