PORTFOLIO: Feedback Requested

Feedback needed. Both my live and promotional portfolios received updates today. New images went in and some older work came out. I’ve also organized all of the photos by height. This is where your opinion counts! In addition to general feedback about the images, I’d like to know if the new organization helps or hinders the viewing experience. Should I also make all of the images the same height?Â What do you think?

UPDATE – It’s official, I love the internet. I’ve incorporated almost all of the initial feedback into the new version. Keep it coming folks!

Ahh yes, the changing of the seasons. The American Apparel hoodies are coming out in Williamsburg and white is the new black here at www.onelouderphoto.com. I’ve been fed up with the website for a while now and it’s time for some big changes.

The brighter skin, edgy font and new watermarks are just the beginning. I’ve also added e-commerce and direct image licensing via the blue BUY links on each image. Authorized clients can now download high-resolution versions of their files at will. Peep the cool new embedded slideshows after the jump.

Most importantly, let me know what you think of the new look.

I learned in a flurry of emails today that the parents of fellow Prefix photographer, Lori Baily, were murdered in their Nebraska home this weekend. Over the past year, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing numerous assignments and photo pits with Lori and I am incredibly saddened by this tragic news.

Lori is as professional a photographer as they come and an incredible asset to the NYC music scene. Her love for music might only be surpassed by the feeling of warmth and kindness she leaves behind every interaction. My heart and prayers are with Lori, her sister Heather and their family and friends.

I sat down with the fabulous Amanda Ameer over at Life’s a Pitch, and talked her ear off about shooting shows, how to find a good live music photographer and what’s up with marketing classical music these days. I think it’s a decent read.

So what’s that blog all about?

Why don’t we apply the successful marketing and publicity campaigns we see in our everyday lives to the performing arts? Great ideas are right there, ripe for the emulating. And who’s responsible for the wide-reaching problems in ticket sales and audience development? Boring artists? Greedy managers? Overstretched marketing departments? We’re beyond debating who owns the problem. Let’s fix this thing.

I receive requests every single week. Sometimes it’s a billion dollar record label. Sometimes it’s an internationally distributed magazine. Sometimes it’s a rock band.

No News Is Good News

I’m sorry for the absence of updates but on top of being sick, I’ve been totally swamped with work! Never fear, even though the past few weeks have been crazy and I’ve got lots of good news, tons of photos and a few quippy concert reviews waiting in the wings. Regular updates to the site will resume as soon as I can come up for air!

The Good News Is…

VHS or Beta/Moving Units: Confirmed

My credentials just came through for the VHS or Beta/Moving Units with Soft show at the Blender Theater at Gramercy. Call me an 80s throw-back sucker, but I love basically anything new wave. I distinctly remember walking into the Virgin Megastore in Union Square, pulling up to the listening booth where Night on Fire was playing, and buying the CD after about 25 seconds of play time.

I’m also excited to shoot at the Blender Theater. This new(ish) venue is reported to have some of the coolest lighting in NYC.
