Press Assignments

I've shot everything from East Village basement holes to Madison Square Garden. If your publication needs coverage in New York City, forget the college kid with the point n' shoot, I'm your photographer.

I can deliver a selection of high resolution images within a few hours of the shoot. With five years of experience in pre-press image preparation, every image you receive will be color correct and press-ready regardless of the format of your publication.

Shoot My Band

If you're a band in need of a photographer simply send me an email with your name and the date, time and location of your show. After that, the rest is up to you.

Put it up to eleven during your set.

When you go to eleven, I go to eleven. My photos will rock as hard as you do.

My rates and packages are flexible based on your needs.

Boyfriend

I know, your ex-boyfriend's little brother took photography classes at NYU. Well, if your ex-boyfriend's little brother will headbutt his way through a horde of filthy East Village emo-kids to get you the money shot, by all means hire him. If not, read on.

You should hire me because:

a) you want your photos to rock as hard as you do.

b) you've seen the typical blown-out magazine shots and think to yourself, there's got to be something better...

c) you're looking to hire someone who is naturally attentive to detail and who prides himself on an ability to produce dynamic, story-leading images under the most difficult conditions.

d) you've looked at my stuff and golly gee, you think it's the mutt's nuts.

e) all of the above.

Flash

I wouldn't dream of it. I specialize in using the available light to produce what one client very politely called "the best live shots of us we have ever seen."

For the record, most of my other clients just say crude rocker-stuff like "dude, your shit is SICK!"

I will use a limited amount of flash on request.

Digital

Hey dude, this ain't no ham on rye. All your pictures will be taken with professional equipment, no substitutions, no exceptions.

My main kit includes:
Canon EOS-1D Mark III SLR
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS
Canon 135mm f/2.0L USM
Canon 580EX II
Canon CPE-4
One medium-sized can of Whoop Ass
Go Go Gadget Utility Belt

The content of this site is copyright © 2005-2007 Christopher Owyoung. All rights reserved. I wouldn't come into your house, eat your ice cream and drop kick your chihuahua, so don't use my photos without asking first.

If you'd like to use my images for your publication, promotional materials, or if you'd like to buy a print, just send me an email. I'm a nice guy and I'd be happy to help.

Note: If I catch you photo-thieving or otherwise violating my copyright I will come your house, eat your Cherry Garcia and drop kick Fluffy to the 10 yard line with a pair of steel-toes. For Fluffy's sake, don't do it.

  • Owyoung's photography is among the best rock photography I have ever seen! He captures the essence of the band - their verve, intensity, fervor, and style. Chris has a natural ability to quickly and calmly find the visual voice of the band, and translate that voice into imagery. I recommend his work without reservations.
